Artist Walter Redondo Installs Sculpture in Monrovia
July 2010
This outdoor sculptural installation, entitled The Stop, was created by artist Walter Redondo for the city of Monrovia. It has been permanently placed in a garden-like setting on the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Olive. The sculpture, which depicts a stylized Red Car, is a tribute to the terminal that once occupied the site. According to the artist, the design for the sculpture evolved through meeting the people of Monrovia and learning about it’s rich history. During development, Walter Redondo worked closely with Ann Cutner and Ryan Schulz from ima, the Urban Housing Group and the City’s Art in Public Places Commission.
