Disneyland Hotel Anaheim 2000

client: The Walt Disney Company

location: Anaheim, California

The Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s most successful hotel, was slated for renovation. The design team used the opportunity to integrate the hotel with the adjacent Disney Pacific Hotel and the new RD&E in the Master Plan.

The pool area and tower circulation areas were redesigned into a themed resort. Focusing on the most notable Disney characters, the Fab Five, each guest tower has a distinct landscape theme. The colorful paving collaborates with the garden theme of RD&E. The centerpiece is the Neverland Pool, designed as a depiction of Peter Pan’s arrival scene into Neverland, complete with misty mountains, skull rock, and tick-tock. Most of the major trees and legacy shrubs were recovered from the existing hotel grounds.
